ITINERARY

Day 1: Pickup from Manali Bus Stand. Drive to Bara Hazar and trek to Chikka – a 17 km – 4/5 Hours journey (12 km by taxi and 5 km by foot)

On the first day, we’ll drive to Bara Hazar, the starting point of the trek, via Jagatsukh. From there, we’ll begin our trek to Chikka. You’ll have to cross the bridge, follow the trail into the woods, then cross another bridge before preparing for a steep climb for 15-20 minutes and a gradual walk next. Admire the waterfalls and streams along the trail until you reach your first camp at Chikka, where you’ll spot some muddy houses and set up camp for the night.

Day 2: Trek from Chikka to Seri – 6km –5/6 Hours journey

Start your day with a beautiful sunrise and walk around the meadow. Follow the well-marked Seri trail through the forest and cross a slippery boulder segment. Take a rest at Panduropa meadow, fill your water bottle, and continue on the trail. Another boulder section is ahead, but easier to cross. Finally, reach Seri and enjoy the scenic beauty of the meadows and mountains. Call it a day after dinner or stargaze to your heart’s content.

Day 3: Trek from Seri to Deo Tibba Base Camp – 4km – (4/5Hours journey)

Today’s hike is super exciting and starts along the river towards a sparkling waterfall. Look for a cairn, cross the river, and follow the steep trail for 2-2.5 hours to reach the top. Enjoy the scenic views and continue trekking along the river until you reach the boulders. Cross the river again and find an ideal spot for camping. There are many water sources available along the way, so you can be flexible in choosing a spot.

Day 4: Trek from Deo Tibba Base Camp to Chota Chandartal back to Base Camp – 2km (2/3hours Journey)

The trail to Chota Chandartal is rocky and confusing, so finding the way can be challenging. To reach the lake, start by climbing steeply on the left side of the stream and switchbacking to make it easier. Move towards Norbu Peak to find your way. Keep an eye out for Deo Tibba, Norbu, and Jagatsukh peaks along the way. After 45 minutes to an hour, you’ll reach Chota Chandartal, and if you have energy, you can visit the larger Bada Chandartal. The return trek is challenging due to the rocky terrain and can be hard on your knees.

Day 5: Trek from Deo Tibba to Seri – 3km (3/4hours)

Begin your day with a breath of fresh air as you explore the meadows and cross the river before retracing your steps. Take caution when descending the steep route, as rainy weather can make it tricky and increase the risk of encountering boulders. Once you’ve safely crossed the river, continue walking through the grasslands to reach the Seri Campsite.

Day 6: Trek from Seri to Manali via Bara Bazar – 8 km (5hours journey)

The route for today’s trek is not too difficult as you will be retracing your steps back to Baara Hazar. It usually takes 5-6 hours to reach Baara Hazar and the trail is moderate with some moraines. You will also experience a gradual descent through alpine forests. Himachal is an excellent destination for trekking, and it offers numerous hidden gems and untouched spots that are truly amazing. Completing the Deo Tibba base camp trek will provide you with a lifetime experience, and you will develop an unconditional love for nature.
