The Lobuche + Island Peak Expedition is an intense high-altitude mountaineering combination designed for climbers seeking two 6000 m summits in one campaign.
Lobuche Peak (6,119 m) offers a technical climb with exposed ridges and fixed rope sections, while Island Peak (6,165 m) adds glacier travel, steep snow slopes, and a dramatic summit ridge. Together, they demand endurance, skill, and efficient recovery between summit pushes.
Extended time above 5,000 metres, long summit days, and cold alpine conditions define this expedition. The challenge is cumulative — managing fatigue, acclimatization, and focus across both climbs.
This expedition is ideal for experienced trekkers transitioning into serious mountaineering, or climbers building experience for bigger Himalayan objectives.
Note: Prices apply to Indian passport holders; foreign nationals may have different costs.
Note: An indemnity document will be shared before the expedition.
Touch down in Nepal’s capital city, Kathmandu – a bustling blend of culture, history, and chaos. Get transferred to your hotel, meet your guide/team, and settle in for a short briefing and last-minute prep. The real journey begins tomorrow!
Begin with a thrilling flight into Lukla, surrounded by towering green hills and snowy peaks. Start your trek towards Phakding, walking alongside the roaring Dudh Koshi River. A gentle introduction to the trail.
Trek Duration: 2–3 hours
Cross suspension bridges, pass through pine forests, and push uphill to reach Namche – the vibrant mountain town where trekkers, yaks, and locals converge. It’s your first major altitude gain.
Trek Duration: 6 hours
Acclimatization day! Take a scenic hike to the beautiful village of Khumjung, with stunning views of Thamserku and Ama Dablam along the way. Return to Namche to relax in cafés or shop for souvenirs.
Trek through forests filled with rhododendrons and reach Tengboche, home to the iconic Tengboche Monastery. Surrounded by towering peaks, it’s one of the most spiritual spots on the trail.
Trek Duration: 6 hours
Descend to Deboche and pass through Pangboche, gradually gaining altitude. The trees thin out, and the terrain becomes more rugged as you enter Dingboche – your gateway to higher Himalayan adventures.
Trek Duration: 5 hours
Another important acclimatization day. Hike up Nangkartshang Hill for awe-inspiring views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, and Island Peak. A tough but rewarding climb that prepares your lungs for higher elevations.
Today’s trail leads you to Lobuche Base Camp, through rocky moraine paths and glacial landscapes. You’ll start feeling the raw, high-altitude wilderness now.
Trek Duration: ~4–5 hours
A short but steep ascent brings you to High Camp. Settle in, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the technical climb ahead. You’re now living the mountaineering dream, right at the doorstep of snow-covered glory.
Rise early and begin your technical ascent towards Lobuche East Summit. The trail transitions from rocky moraine to snow and ice, with fixed ropes and thrilling ridge climbs. Upon reaching the summit, soak in the 360° views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and beyond. Descend back to base camp, tired but triumphant.
Duration: 10–12 hours
Continue your journey through the stark, windblown valley, surrounded by towering peaks. Chhukung is a peaceful village nestled in the Imja Valley, and it serves as the perfect transition between the Lobuche and Island Peak climbs.
Trek Duration: 5–6 hours
An easy but steady trek to the base of Island Peak. As you approach, the impressive south face of Lhotse dominates the skyline. At base camp, review your gear, practice some basic techniques if needed, and prepare for the big day.
Trek Duration: ~4 hours
Start before dawn and begin the climb with headlamps on. The route includes a steep rock gully, snowfield crossings, ladder bridges, and fixed ropes leading to the summit ridge. Stand tall at 6,189 meters — the view is surreal. Descend all the way back to Chhukung for well-earned rest.
Duration: ~14 hours
This day is reserved in case of bad weather or additional acclimatization needs. It could be used for rest, recovery, or retrying the summit if conditions demand. In the mountains, flexibility is survival.
With both summits behind you, descend steadily through the Khumbu Valley. Tengboche welcomes you again with its spiritual calm and warm tea.
Trek Duration: 5 hours
Drop further down into oxygen-rich air. Cross hanging bridges and retrace familiar steps past Namche, finally reaching Monjo.
Trek Duration: 5 hours
Your final day of trekking. It’s a bittersweet farewell to the trail that tested, taught, and transformed you. Reach Lukla and celebrate with your crew!
Trek Duration: 4–5 hours
A scenic morning flight whisks you away from the mountains. Land in Kathmandu and settle into your hotel — your expedition ends where it began.
Spend the day exploring Thamel’s vibrant streets. Shop for prayer flags, handicrafts, or trek souvenirs. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner – a celebration of everything you’ve conquered.
Time to say goodbye. Carry the memories of your double summit journey with pride. The mountains have changed you — and they’ll always be calling you back
