overview

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a classic long-distance Himalayan journey that circles the Annapurna massif, offering extraordinary landscape diversity and a demanding physical challenge.

The trek moves from subtropical valleys to high-altitude deserts, passing ancient villages, monasteries, and wind-sculpted terrain. The defining moment is the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) — a long, exhausting day involving a pre-dawn start, steep climbs, and extreme altitude.

Thorong La is a true adrenaline milestone — cold winds, thin air, and sustained effort make it one of the most challenging trekking passes in Nepal. Completing the circuit delivers a profound sense of endurance and accomplishment.

This trek is ideal for trekkers who want a long, immersive Himalayan experience that tests stamina, patience, and mental strength.

Note: Prices mentioned are applicable for Indian passport holders. For foreign passport holders, the cost may vary. Please connect with the Boots & Crampons team for clarity.
Note: An indemnity document will be shared before the trek. Signing it is mandatory.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)
On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we meet our trekking team and transfer to our comfortable hotel in Kathmandu. Later, we attend a detailed pre-trek briefing, equipment check, and final preparations. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Chame (2,650m)
After an early breakfast, we begin a full-day scenic drive through river valleys, terraced hillsides, and dramatic mountain landscapes as we head toward Chame, the administrative center of the Manang district and gateway to the Annapurna region. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 3: Chame – Pisang (3,250m)
Today, we begin our trek, following the Marsyangdi River through pine forests and narrow valleys. Passing traditional Himalayan villages and suspension bridges, we gradually gain altitude before reaching Pisang. The trek takes approximately 9 to 9.5 hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 4: Pisang – Manang (3,520m)
We continue trekking through a drier, high-altitude landscape with spectacular views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak. The trail opens into wide valleys as we approach Manang, the main settlement of the region. The trek takes around 5 hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 5: Manang (Acclimatization Day)
To maximize our chances at higher altitude, today is dedicated to acclimatization. Climbers may choose a short hike to nearby viewpoints or a more demanding trek to Ice Lake (Kicho Tal) at approximately 4,600m. The remainder of the day is spent resting and hydrating. Overnight in Manang.

Day 6: Manang – Shree Kharkha (4,080m)
Leaving Manang, we follow a less-traveled route through open alpine valleys and landslide-prone sections. The scenery becomes increasingly remote as we gain altitude and reach the isolated settlement of Shree Kharkha. The trek takes around 5 hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 7: Shree Kharkha – Tilicho Base Camp (4,150m)
Today’s trek follows narrow, dramatic trails carved into steep cliff faces, offering breathtaking mountain views. Careful footing is required as we traverse this exposed section en route to Tilicho Base Camp. The trek takes approximately 4 hours. Overnight in basic lodge accommodation.

Day 8: Tilicho Base Camp – Tilicho Lake (4,920m) – Shree Kharkha
We start early for our ascent to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. After reaching the stunning turquoise lake and spending time enjoying the views, we descend carefully back to Shree Kharkha. The round trek takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 9: Shree Kharkha – Yak Kharkha (4,000m)
We descend gradually before rejoining the main Annapurna Circuit trail, following the Marsyangdi River through alpine meadows and yak-grazing pastures. The trek takes around 5 hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 10: Yak Kharkha – Thorong Phedi (4,450m)
A short but important trekking day as we continue ascending toward Thorong Phedi, the base of Thorong La Pass. The afternoon is reserved for rest, hydration, and preparation for the following day’s high pass crossing. Trek time is approximately 4 hours. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 11: Thorong Phedi – Thorong La Pass (5,416m) – Muktinath
We begin early in the morning for the challenging ascent to Thorong La Pass, the highest point of our trek. After reaching the pass and taking in panoramic Himalayan views, we begin a long descent to the sacred pilgrimage town of Muktinath. The trek takes around 7 to 8 hours. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 12: Muktinath – Tatopani
Today, we travel by jeep through the Kali Gandaki Valley, descending into warmer climates. Upon arrival in Tatopani, there is time to relax and soak in the natural hot springs, a perfect way to soothe tired muscles. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 13: Tatopani – Pokhara (820m)
We continue our scenic drive to Pokhara, Nepal’s beautiful lakeside city. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy lakeside walks, cafés, massage therapy, or simply relax with views of the Annapurna range. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 14: Pokhara – Kathmandu
We take a short, scenic flight back to Kathmandu, offering spectacular aerial views of the Himalayas. In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner and celebration of our successful trek. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 15: Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, our journey comes to an end with a transfer to the airport for onward departure, carrying unforgettable memories of the Annapurna and Tilicho Lake adventure.
