The Dayara Bugyal Trek (3,750 m) is one of India’s most scenic alpine meadow treks, offering vast rolling grasslands with uninterrupted Himalayan views.
The trail winds through forests and open meadows, gradually gaining altitude. In winter, Dayara transforms into a snow-covered playground, adding excitement and visual drama. Though beginner-friendly, the trek still demands consistent walking and endurance.
Dayara Bugyal is perfect for first-time trekkers or those seeking a short, visually rewarding Himalayan experience.

Arrive early in the morning at Dehradun, the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. Our vehicle will depart by 7 AM for Barsu, a charming Himalayan village located near Uttarkashi. The drive takes you along scenic roads with views of rivers, valleys, and Himalayan landscapes. Upon reaching Barsu by late afternoon, check into a pre-arranged guesthouse or homestay. Spend the evening exploring the village, interacting with locals, or taking short walks to acclimatize. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.

Begin your trek after a hearty breakfast. The trail from Barsu to Barnala is a gradual ascent, passing through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The chirping of birds and the scent of the woods create a magical ambiance as you walk through the wilderness. By afternoon, arrive at Barnala, a serene campsite offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. After lunch, explore the Barnala Tal, a small picturesque lake near the campsite. Start your day early with breakfast before embarking on the most scenic leg of the trek. The trail to Dayara Bugyal passes through rolling meadows and dense forests. As you ascend, the landscape opens up to reveal the vast alpine meadows of Dayara Bugyal. In winter, the snow-covered expanse is a sight to behold, while in summer, the lush greenery is equally enchanting.
Continue to Dayara Top, the highest point of the trek, offering panoramic views of the Gangotri, Bandarpoonch, and Srikanth peaks. Spend time capturing photographs and enjoying the serenity of the place. After lunch, descend back to Barnala, where you’ll spend the night in tents

Wake up early and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning your descent to Barsu. The trail is straightforward and offers beautiful views of the valley below. Upon reaching Barsu, board the vehicle for the return journey to Dehradun. The drive back takes approximately 6-7 hours. You are expected to arrive in Dehradun by evening. Please allow a buffer of 3-4 hours when booking onward travel to accommodate any delays.
