The Dhauladhar 7 Lakes Trek is a demanding high-altitude journey linking remote alpine lakes in the rugged Dhauladhar range. Long days, repeated climbs, and remote terrain make this trek physically and mentally challenging.

ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrival in McLeodganj – Trek to Triund
Arrive in McLeodganj and begin your trek towards Triund. The trail offers a gradual ascent with sweeping views of the Dhauladhar range. Camp overnight at Triund under a starlit sky.


Day 2
Triund to Lahesh Caves
Continue your ascent toward Lahesh Caves, moving beyond the tree line into more rugged, high-altitude terrain. Camp near the caves nestled amidst rocky surroundings.


Day 3
Lahesh Caves to Nag Dal via Indrahar Pass
The most challenging and rewarding day. Cross the spectacular Indrahar Pass (approx. 4,300M), then descend towards the serene Nag Dal lake. Experience panoramic views of the Kangra and Chamba valleys.


Day 4
Nag Dal to Lam Dal via Dham Ghodi Dal & Chanderkoop Dal
A beautiful stretch across alpine glacial lakes, each with its own legend. Trek through mystical settings to reach the majestic Lam Dal, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the region.


Day 5
Lam Dal to Kareri Lake via Kalikund & Naghar
Trek across rocky landscapes and high ridges, stopping at Kalikund and Naghar, eventually reaching the crystal-clear Kareri Lake, surrounded by meadows and pine forests.


Day 6
Kareri Lake to Kareri Village – Drive to McLeodganj
Descend to Kareri Village roadhead through scenic trails, where your vehicle awaits. Drive back to McLeodganj and conclude your journey

PREPARATION GUIDE

Please read carefully before registering

At Boots & Crampons, preparation is not optional. The level of training required depends on the duration, altitude, and technical difficulty of the trek or expedition you are signing up for.

  • Prior trekking experience is strongly recommended.
  • You must be exercising regularly for at least 3–4 weeks before the trek.
  • Build cardiovascular endurance—jogging is the best way to improve stamina.
  • Train your body with uphill walking or stair climbing while carrying a weighted backpack.
  • Focus on lower body and core strength using squats, lunges, planks, crunches, and cycling.
  • High altitude demands patience—listen to your body and respect acclimatization days.
  • Strong legs are essential to comfortably handle long ascent and descent days.

Proper preparation increases not just your chances of success, but also your safety and enjoyment in the mountains.

THINGS TO PACK

For Your Head:

  • Woolen warm cap to protect against cold winds
  • Balaclava for extra warmth
  • Bandana (can be used as a sweatband or to cover your face from dust)

For Your Feet:

  • 4-5 pairs of regular socks
  • 1-2 pair of thick woolen socks for warmth
  • Trekking boots with ankle support and good grip
  • Extra pair of comfortable sneakers or shoes to wear at the Tea House

For Your Hands:
